Assignments cover the material presented in the online material. They may refer you back to a module or to some activity you were asked to complete in a laboratory.
Assignments are submitted online on Canvas. Assignments are scored by the computer and you will receive your assignment grade immediately. You can submit the assignments up to three times if you need to improve your score. The highest score counts.
Assignments are due at 11:59 PM on the indicated date. No late assignments will be accepted.
Attend the studio session for your section on Monday or Tuesday. Each section has its own lab instructors. The Fall 2022 Physics 222 Lab Syllabus on Canvas explains the lab grading policy. You cannot earn passing grade for the course, unless you earn a passing grade for the labs.
Attend class on Thursday and answer clicker questions to earn 50% of class participation credit for a module. Participate in Canvas discussions. Meaningful participation before the due date of the second homework, lab, and extra credit associated with a module gives you the other 50% class participation credit for the module. Post questions, answers, hints, comments, etc, under one of the suggested topics or start your own topic.
What is a meaningful contribution?
You can earn up to 26 extra credit points per module by completing a two or three question extra credit assignment per module. You can submit these extra credit assignments twice. You are encouraged to discuss the assignment with your fellow students in the discussion forum before the submission. You can earn 24 additional extra credit points by completing the OpenStax Tutor reading assignments. See Canvas for details. Extra credit points are added to your total score from tests, homework assignments and laboratories.
Tests are 90 minute online exams. Test 1 questions are about material covered in modules 1 - 6, and test 2 questions are about material covered in modules 7 - 12. You will take the tests online using the Chrome browser with the Proctorio extension during any 90 minute period between 7:00 am and 11:30 pm on the test day.
